Frequently Asked Questions - General

Does it cost more to use the services of a Travel Advisor?

Generally, no. When you purchase a travel item (i.e. hotel stay, cruise, rental car) a commission is built into the rate or fare that you are paying. If you use the services of a travel advisor, the supplier pays the commission to the travel advisor. If you book directly with the supplier, you pay the same amount, but the commission is essentially retained by the supplier for their own marketing costs.

In some situations, a travel advisor may charge a booking fee separate from the travel item(s).

Why should I consider using the services of a Travel Advisor?

Travel advisors are generally able to give clients a more customized experience during the travel planning process. They are excited to use their own love of travel and their own experiences to help each client enjoy a great vacation.

Will a travel advisor book domestic air travel for me?

He or she might, but there are many reasons why it is beneficial for a traveler to book and manage their own flights -- especially domestic flights. The biggest benefit to the traveler is that he or she is closest to the flight situation and can most easily either talk with an airline agent at the airport or manage rebookings through the airline's app. A travel advisor is not going to have any behind the scenes way to get things done for you, and often it takes longer since the travel advisor is a third party.

Frequently Asked Questions - Cruise

When should I plan to arrive in the departure port city?

Get your vacation off to a great start by arriving the day before, enjoy a relaxing night in a local hotel and treat yourself to a nice dinner. It is strongly suggested that if you are flying into your departure city, you arrive on the day prior to the cruise departure. This alleviates a lot of stress and potentially missing the cruise departure if your flight is delayed. Most cruises leave between 3pm and 6pm, and you want to be ON THE SHIP a few hours before departure time. Add this to transportation from the airport to the cruiseport, and it all just adds up to more time.
